October 24, 2022 – Featherlite Trailers is proud to be the race transporter of choice for Team Penske, one of the most successful teams in the history of motorsports. Any given weekend during the season, Featherlite haulers help to deliver the team’s race cars and equipment to race tracks hosting NASCAR, IMSA and INDYCAR races. Featherlite has designed and manufactured 22 trailers for Team Penske over the years.
Penske’s NASCAR transporters are designed to haul two race cars and spare parts in the upper deck. The lounge area gives team members space for meetings, while the main work area provides ample storage and work space. In addition, this area hauls the equipment and tools that be will unloaded and used in the garage area at each track during the race weekend.
When it comes to the team’s INDYCAR transporters, they are designed in such a way to be more specialized in their functions (i.e. full fabrication shop). That way the team creates a shared compound to work together from during a race weekend.
In 2022, the Featherlite team has been working on two new transporters for Team Penske, including a new engineering support trailer for Porsche Penske Motorsport, which will complete in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. A frequent visitor to the Featherlite plant during the build of a new Featherlite is Chris Yoder, director of transportation for Team Penske.
