Company Info

In 1973, Featherlite pioneered the first all-aluminum gooseneck trailer, and the company was officially established that year in Oklahoma before eventually calling Minnesota home for several years. One of its dealers back in the 1970s was located in Cresco, Iowa, and therefore, Featherlite began building trailers in Cresco in 1979. Expansion to its manufacturing facilities took place in 1985, 1992 and 1995. Since 1993, Cresco, Iowa has been the official home and headquarters of Featherlite Trailers.

Since that first trailer in 1973, North American trailer buyers have looked to Featherlite for superior value in a range of innovative all-aluminum trailer lines.

Today, Featherliteโ€™s range of trailers is the widest in the industry: car trailers, horse trailers, stock trailers, recreational trailers and utility trailers, as well as business-to-business specialty trailers and professional race transporters. These include event marketing trailers, command centers, medical trailers and other custom specialty trailers.

In 1992 Featherlite built its first semi race car transporter for RCR team owner Richard Childress and NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt. Soon after, Featherlite was building large race transporters for many race teams and eventually other large-scale, custom specialty transporters and trailers for a vast range of clients. Featherlite is currently a sponsor and โ€œofficial trailerโ€ of NASCARยฎ.

Featherlite manufactures thousands of trailers annually at its operations in Cresco with a workforce of over 400 in facilities of 310,000 square feet. Our โ€œSafe.Secure.Smart.โ€ motto symbolizes our focus on the customer, providing unmatched safety, durability, innovation and towability.

There are over 100 Featherlite dealers to service customers throughout the U.S. and Canada with car, horse, livestock and rec/utility trailers. Featherliteโ€™s highly customized transporters are sold from Featherliteโ€™s specialty trailer sales office in Cresco.
